A Shout-Out to our High School Grads

Graduation Blessing:
Sunday August 2, 7:30 p.m.

Today I want to say a big word of thanks and congratulations to our High School Graduates. You have sacrificed a lot over these past months. I can’t imagine how hard it must have been to have spent your last few months of High School not being together in person with friends, teachers, coaches, and mentors.

But here you are, and you’ve done it. You’ve completed High School. And you can be proud of what you’ve accomplished. Your Gloria Dei family of faith is excited for you and for the journey that you all have ahead of you in your next chapter in life.

One of my all-time favorite Bible passages comes from Paul’s letter to the Philippians. I read it often. It may be familiar to you, but here it is, and I commend it to you.

Philippians 4:4-8 “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things.”

Graduates, God loves you and is with you now and always. This is a time of rejoicing for you. And if you’re feeling anxious, then be sure to lift everything up to God. The peace that God brings truly does surpass our human understanding.

As you know, we always have a Graduation Blessing Milestone for all High School Seniors at Gloria Dei. We are going to have that blessing for all of you, too.

So put this on your calendars.

High School grads will be receiving a physical invitation, and parents of High School grads, you have or will be receiving an email soon with details.

But it’s not just High Schoolers who have graduated. Traditionally at Gloria Dei we’ve recognized in our weekend bulletins any and all Post-Secondary Graduates, whether it be from College, University, or Graduate School. So if you or a member of your family fits this category, please follow this link, fill out the informational form, and this information will be included in a bulletin insert.

One more thing: If High School or College graduates want to receive the weekly Friday Followings email with their own personal email addresses, then simply reply to this email, including Student Name and Personal email address, and we’ll make sure you receive them.

Together all of us at Gloria Dei say congratulations to you, the High School graduates of 2020, and also to all of the grads, whether from College, Grad School, Middle School, Elementary School, Kindergarten, or Preschool.

“Rejoice in the Lord always! Again I say, rejoice!”

May you all have a blessed Memorial Day as we give thanks and honor to those who have given themselves in service to our great country.
